The Golden Duck
A teller
A poor man
Three sons:
Dan
Pete
John
A little old man
2 girls
2 men
A king
A princess
The teller: Once
there lived a poor man. He worked in a
forest He had three sons Dan, Pete and
John. One day he said to them:
A poor man: "I
cannot give you food any longer. You
must work and get your own money and food."
(So he gave an axe to
Dan)
A poor man: "Go
to the forest and bring some wood.”
The teller: Dan
took the axe and an apple and went to the forest. He saw a
big tree and said,
Dan: "I
shall get this tree down and take it to my father."
"But first I shall eat"
The teller: He
sat down and began to eat the apple.
Suddenly he saw a little old man.
The little old man: "Please give me a bit of your apple.
I am hungry.”
Dan: "My apple is too big for
you. Go away”
The teller: The
little old man went away Dan took his axe and began to work. But the axe did not hit the tree, it hits his foot. He could not work and went home. His father was very angry.
Next day the father called his son Pete.
A poor man: "Today
you will go to the forest and get some wood."
The teller: Pete
took some bread and an apple and went to the forest. He came to the same tree: he sat down and began eat the apple. The little old man came up to Pete.
The little old man: "Please give me a bit of this apple.”
Pete :"Go away! Eat your own apples.”
The teller: The little old man went away. Pete took the axe and began to work. But when he hit the tree the are hit his
foot. He could not work and went home.
His father got very angry.
Next day the father called his youngest son John,
A poor man: "Today
you will go to the forest and bring some wood.”
The teller: John went to the forest and came up to the
same tree. He sat down to eat his
apple. The little old man came up to him.
The little old man: "Please give me a bit of your apple."
John: "Take this apple. I shall eat some bread.”
(The little old man took the apple )
The little old man: "Hit the tree on this mark.
Soon you will see a hole. Put your hand into
the hole and you will find something which will make you happy."
(Then the little man went away)
A teller: When John hit the tree with his axe, the tree opened and he saw a hole. He put his hand into the hole and took a
golden duck out of it.
John: “I shall take this golden duck to the
city and sell it. I shall get much money
and help my father."
A teller: So he went to the city with the golden duck
in his arms.
(music)
Scene 2
The King: "The man who will make the
Princess laugh will marry her."
The teller:
John went down the street of the city with the golden duck in his arms. A girl saw the duck and said to her friend,
The 1st girl: "Mary, look at that duck! Is it alive?"
The teller: Mary came up to John and put her hand on the duck. But she could not take her hand away from the
duck and she began to cry:
The 2nd girl: "Come and help me! I cannot take my hand away!"
The teller: Mary's friend ran up and took the girl's arm. But she saw that she could not take her hand
away from the girl's arm, too. So the two girls had to run after John and
the golden duck. A
woman saw the two girls
and was very surprised.
A man: "Why are you running after that young man?"
The teller: And she took the girl's arm.
But she could not take his hand away,
too. So the woman had to run after the two
girls, John and the golden duck. An
old lady saw them and cried
out:
An old lady: "Why are you running after that young
man?"
The teller: She took the woman's arm. But she could not take his hand away. So the old lady had to run after the woman and the two girls and John, and the golden duck. They ran near the King's
palace.
The teller: The king in that city had a daughter.
The Princess was very sad. She cried
from morning till night.
(the Princess
and the king are coming)
The teller: The sad Princess looked out of the window and
began to laugh
The Princess:"Ha! Ha!
Ha! How funny it is!"
The King: "Oh, I am very glad! My dear daughter is happy!"
(Then he looked out of the window and
saw John. He called him)
The King: "At last my daughter is
happy. Now my dear, you may marry her."
The
teller: So John
married the Princess and they lived very happily
